It's a new year, and we're all pretty stoked about it.
2016 was rough for a lot of people. A LOT of people. Yours truly was not immune, either. I spent a lot of New Year's Eve reflecting on how 2016 tried to break me, but I'm not going to do that in this entry because it would be wasting what's happening RIGHT NOW.
I'm pretty fired up.
(Author's note: Did you miss the GIFs? Me too.)
This time of year will always have a special place in my heart. In 2011, I was the right amount of pissed off to make my weight loss resolution a complete lifestyle overhaul.
It happened. Slowly, but, it happened.
Six years later, I'm the right amount of pissed off to make my dream life my reality.
And, you know what? I'm not sure how long it's going to take, but...
It's going to happen.
So what does that entail?
Well, first and foremost, I always like to start my year following a workout regimen that seems physically impossible. My Seasonal Affective Disorder is murdered by endorphins, and nothing makes me feel more powerful than accomplishing something that's really freaking hard.
My beautiful friend Harmony and I have committed to the #InsaneBeast regimen. This means a typical week consists of 3 days of intense cardio conditioning (Insanity Max:30), 3 days of heavy lifting (Body Beast), and one rest day. I'm also participating in a Health Bet, which I'm pretty stoked about!
Diet bets are insanely popular these days, but I've honestly never felt encouraged to participate in one. Why? Well, even though I'm pretty healthy & love challenges, my scale doesn't really budge anymore. I'm totally okay with that; I'm building muscle, losing inches, & feeling awesome. But if a bet depends on how much weight I can drop, then I'm going to lose.... BUT with the Health Bet, your success is based on your EFFORTS, not your results. Meaning that every single person who commits to healthy habits everyday will win a share...of a $1 million pot! Say what?! That means that if 1 million people follow the rules perfectly, you'll only win $1. But, believe me: I've seen these challenges before, and that simply won't happen. So if you put the time into yourself every day for a month, you'll guaranteed win some moolah!! I'm pretty excited about it & my friends who are participating are as well.
(Enrollment is still open until the 8th, if anyone reading this is looking for some incentivized accountability. You know how to find me!)
Nutrition? I'm going to adventure into the world of carb cycling. What is that exactly? Basically, it just means to eat less carbs on the days that you're not lifting. I've never done this before, so I will most definitely blog about my experience and whether or not it's for me. My instincts tell me that I may hate this.....
...but I will always make the attempt before I assume anything.
As for my health coaching....
In my previous entry, I mentioned that I'd like to focus on serving those who have been victimized. Specifically I'm speaking the language of anyone picked last in gym class, but obviously any sort of damaged self-worth needs to be repaired. I've been taking a business course that's specialized in health coaching, which has been incredibly insightful! Through this training, I have legitimized my mission by creating my business statement:
Empowering victimized women to shed their limiting habits and live in their happiest skin.
Boom goes the dynamite.
Since January is an anti-social month in general, I'm turning into a workhorse.
I've already debuted my free weekly newsletter, which will be sent on Wednesdays. Motivation Monday and Feel Good Friday need a little help in-between, no? (Check out the "Contact" page on my site to get yourself signed up for it!)
What's to come: I'm dropping my audiobook, Fierce for Life, as soon as I receive feedback from a few trusted listeners. I'm going to be offering a client database site that will house free content as well as a safe space for my clients. Individualized mentorship will become available in 30 day, 90 day, or ongoing installments.
That's a lot to launch at once, right?
Well, if I wait til I'm ready, I'll be waiting for the rest of my life.
I'm sick of dragging my feet and living under my potential.
I'm sick of setting career goals, "meh"-ing my way through, and then being continually frustrated when I'm screwed over for not making those goals happen.
I'm going for it.
Whatever resolution you've set, I want you to know that you can make it happen. But just daydreaming or visualizing is not enough.
Make a gameplan. Take action, even if it's imperfect. Demand to be taken seriously. Stop dwelling on "no," and start thinking about new strategies for getting a "yes."
Know your worth and fight for it.
To quote the great Ke$ha, "Go insane. Go insane. Throw some glitter make it rain."
I believe in you, babe.
